What happens to all those plastic bottles?

A while ago I had an assignment photographing the largest recycling plant in Rhode Island. The plastic bottles come in bales:or just in piles:

Then, unbelievably, all those plastic bottles are separated by the type of plastic, by hand:

And then they get chopped up into little pieces before becoming a fleece jacket, plastic bench or deck:
